Located on the southeast side of Kansas City, this small concrete slab bridge crosses 75th Street.
Built in 1903, the bridge consists of a single concrete slab span, set onto concrete substructures. This style of bridge was used for a number of underpasses on the Rock Island line.
Because these types of bridges were cheap and easy to build, many exist on almost every railroad in America. Unfortunately, this narrow bridge could be a candidate for replacement in the future, as the narrow one lane road underneath is a choke point for streets in the area.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in good condition. The bridge opened to pedestrians in the spring of 2021.
The author has ranked the bridge as being locally significant, due to the common design.
